Happy Mother's Day 母親節快樂

I wish you a Happy Mother's day.

A mother is always worried.

When Emre was much younger, I worried if he had enough nutrients from my milk. So I ate lots of food, good healthy food, to produce milk. Now he is a toddler, I worry if he is learning well. So I read to him, sing to him, play with him and buy all kinds of toys to stimulate his development. I am sure there will be many other things to be worried about; school performance, sport injury, girlfriend issue (he already has girlfriends in different area codes) and many more. And I realize how luxury my worries are.
Kiss kiss mommy! 來給媽媽啾一雷!
For mothers in the less fortunate parts of the world, their worries are imminent and dreadful. "Can I provide safe drinking water? Where is next meal for my kids? How to get health service when my babies are sick? Can I prevent my kids from getting sick?" These worries are so real, so heartbreaking.

So I decide to start a new tradition for Mother's Day in my family. I really don't need another handbag that will sit in the closet as a Mother's Day gift (plus Emre is too young to pick a gift and my husband has a horrible taste in picking gift). We will instead gift to mothers in need to honor the difficulties that accompany with motherhood. And this year the gift is to help kids in Nepal that suffer the earthquake through UNICEF. I hope in the future we can do more than donation.

Upper left, my mother in law, mother of five. Upper right, my grandma, mother of five.
Lower left my sis, mother of four. Lower right, my mom.

I wish all the mothers in my family, my mommy friends and mothers everywhere, a very Happy Mother's day.
