My awesome mother in law 安那姆的超級阿嬤

She is 72 and strong like a bull! Mashallah.  她72歲壯的跟牛一樣!上天保佑.

Three month ago my mother in law came from Anamur, Turkey to help us with baby. In the short time I learn that she is such a strong and warm-hearted person.

Grand mom carries Emre on her back!
We, by we I mean me, Nihal and Emre, are very spoiled by her. She holds and kisses Emre all the time. She calls Emre "stinky butt" and "ugly baby", the special Turkish way to show affection to baby. (I was confused for a while. Emre is no where near ugly.) She cooks dinner for us during the weekday. And on the weekend she makes crepe or borek, a type of cheese and vegetable stuffed bread, for breakfast. There is nothing fancy in her cooking. It never requires special ingredients or equipments. But it tastes good, even for me who has an very Asian stomach.

It is hard to describe her without list memorable moments. Here are a few.
  1. She attempted to help me to breast feed baby the first week she got here. I am a bit private about my breast. But she said she has those breast, too. Plus she has experience in breast feeding 5 children.  Today I can breast feed in front of her without much hesitation. If she needs a job, breast feeding consultant will be a top hit for her!
  2. She likes to interact with people, even with language barrier. She talks to my Taiwanese friends, American friends and our land lords. When we go out, she can spot Turkish people and effortlessly strike a conversation. We went to a Turkish restaurant, by the time we finish the meal she had talked to every waiters in the restaurant and everyone called her auntie.
  3. Today I have time to write a post because I am sick at home while baby is at day care. She cooked me a bowl of soup and told me she add some spicy pepper because I like spicy food. (Beside fever, my stomach also hurts. But it feels great to be taken care of.)
God bless her to be strong as a bull for another 30+ years!
